My experience in the community center in Bajo Tejares was amazing. On the first day we got there we went to our home stay. We stayed with the most amazing person ever. She is now our Costa Rican grandma. We went to see the dorm, and meet the other volunteers. They were so nice. We thought it was awkward at first but it was awesome.

We had Sunday off. But we had a tour of San Ramon, which was really, really helpful. The next day was our first day of work. We had a tour of the neighborhood it was sad to see where these happy kids had to live. Some had gotten electricity only the week before.

That afternoon we started work. The kids were really patient with our Spanish. There was really no structure. There was a little program for the children under 5. I played with the little kids most of the time. I fell in love with all of them. If you want to do something athletic then they let you push them on the swing. They hold your hand and run everywhere with you. The only thing that's really important is knowing Spanish and trying to learn things like push me, where do you want to go. That's really important. I want to thank Ligia, Alicia and Nidia (our home stay). Thank you so much
